A good resin driveway in Wymondham starts with the part you cannot see: the base and the drainage. With your permission, we pass your enquiry to an independent local resin installer, who should measure, check what is underneath and explain whether your drive can be overlaid or needs new groundwork before giving you a written quote.
From older homes near the Abbey and market place to newer estates towards the A11, every drive has different levels, access and drainage. Getting those right is what makes a resin driveway last.

Smooth, permeable stone and resin, trowelled flat on a proper base.
Resin laid over sound tarmac or concrete, with less digging.
Patios, garden paths and paths around the house, matched to your drive.
Resin bound is the smooth, permeable finish most people mean when they ask for a resin driveway. Stone and resin are mixed together and trowelled flat.

Dried aggregate is mixed with a clear UV stable resin and trowelled out by hand to an even depth. Water drains through the gaps between the stones, so a resin bound surface on a suitable base is usually permeable. The finish is smooth, with no loose stones to kick onto the road or into the house.
If your existing tarmac or concrete is sound, resin can often be laid over it, which means less digging and a quicker job.
An overlay is only as good as the surface underneath. Tarmac or concrete that is level, stable and free from large cracks can usually take resin. Surfaces that are breaking up, sinking or full of tree roots need repairing or replacing first.
The same smooth resin finish works for patios, garden paths and the path around the house, and can be matched to your driveway.
A resin surface is only as strong as what is underneath. Where needed, the installer digs out, lays a compacted sub-base and a base layer, and sets edging so the resin has a firm, level foundation. This is where cheap driveways cut corners.
Sweep regularly and wash down with a hose or a pressure washer on a low setting now and then. Clean up oil spills quickly. Keeping leaves and moss off helps the surface keep draining.

It depends on the area, the condition of the existing surface, any new base work, drainage and the stone you choose. You get a written quote after a survey. See the costs guide.
A resin bound driveway laid at the right depth on a sound base can last many years. The base and the mix make the biggest difference.
Usually not if the surface is permeable or drains within your property. A solid surface draining onto the road usually does. See our planning and drainage page.
Often, if the tarmac or concrete is sound and level. Surfaces that are cracking or sinking need repairing or replacing first.
Bound is mixed and trowelled smooth and is usually permeable. Bonded has stone scattered on resin and is not permeable.
Resin needs dry weather and suitable temperatures. The installer should plan around the forecast and move the date if conditions are wrong.
They can help with an initial conversation, but a written quote should follow a check of the base, levels, drainage and access.
